CYCLONES FALL IN SEASON OPENER
Hildebrand Shuts Down Cincinnati’s Offense
Indianapolis, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (0-1-0-0) fell to the Indy Fuel on Friday night in their season opener by a score of 3-1. Forward Eric Robinson tallied the lone goal for the Cyclones.
After the Fuel took a 1-0 lead early in the first on a goal from Anthony Beauregard, Cincinnati answered right back roughly five minutes in when Robinson came in over the blue line and snapped a wrister up under the crossbar past Fuel netminder Jake Hildebrand to tie the game, 1-1.
The Fuel wasted little time responding as forward Alex Wideman scored back-to-back goals to give the Fuel a 3-1 lead after the first period.
The Cyclones started to pick up the pace offensively in the second, receiving a number of Grade-A scoring chances in the frame. Hildebrand was perfect in the period, stopping all 12 shots he faced to preserve Indy’s 3-1 lead through 40 minutes.
The third saw more of the same for the Cyclones, as they got quality chance after quality chance in the frame. Hildebrand continued to thwart Cincinnati’s offensive attack, including a 6-on-4 rush in the final seconds to seal Indy’s 3-1 win.
Cincinnati outshot Indy, 34-21 on the evening, with Cyclones netminder Mark Visentin stopping 18 in the loss. Cincinnati opens up the home portion of the schedule on Saturday night against the Fuel at 7:35pm at U.S. Bank Arena.
