CYCLONES BEGIN BUSY WEEK ON THE ICE

The Cincinnati Cyclones look to climb back into the win column this week after dropping both games this past weekend.   Luckily, Jarrod Skalde’s bunch will have ample opportunity…they face four different teams in the span of five days beginning Tuesday.  They’ll host Elmira and Kalamazoo on consecutive nights this Tuesday and Wednesday before hitting the road for stops in Trenton on Friday and Wheeling on Saturday.

THIS PAST WEEKEND:

About Saturday Night vs. Wheeling: A four goal night from Nailers forward Nick Petersen and a 24 save performance from Patrick Killeen helped Wheeling spoil Cincinnati’s 2010-11 home opener 7-3 in front of 6,160 at U.S. Bank Arena.  Cyclones captain Barret Ehgoetz had a two-point night while Scott Reynolds, T.J. Fast and Scott Lehman all found the net.

About Friday Night in Toledo:
The ‘Clones were unable to muster a late-game rally as they fell to the Walleye by a 3-2 final at Huntington Center.  Cincinnati got goals from Brett Robinson and Scott Reynolds while netminder Chet Pickard turned aside 22 Toledo shots in a losing effort.

STORYLINES:

WE MEET AGAIN: Tuesday night the Cyclones will battle the Elmira Jackals in their third meeting of the season.  The two teams split the season-opening weekend series, Elmira winning 7-3 on October 15 while the ‘Clones taking the second game 5-4 in OT...which has been their only win of the season so far.

SCOUTING THE JACKALS: Elmira comes in leading the Atlantic Division with a 3-1-2-0 record.  It’s no surprise they’re having early success...the Jackals have three players who are in the Top 5 in ECHL scoring.  Justin Donati is tied for 3rd with 10 points, Michael Dubuc is tied for 4th with 9 points, and Yannick Tifu is tied for 5th with 8 points.

SCOUTING THE WINGS: After winning its first three games, Kalamazoo now ranks second in the North Division with a 3-2-0-1 record after dropping three in a row.    Kory Karlander ranks 2nd in the ECHL with 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists).
