ANDRUSIAK NAMED ECHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Cincinnati Cyclones, in conjunction with the ECHL, have announced that forward Zack Andrusiak has been named the Inglasco ECHL Player of the Week for February 20-25.
Andrusiak, 24, scored four goals while adding three assists for a seven-point week that helped Cincinnati extend its win streak to four games. As a whole, the Cyclones went 10-1-1-1 in February. After his 21-point month (eight goals, 13 assists), Andrusiak enters March leading Cincinnati in points with 22 goals and 56 points across 45 games played.
"I'm honored to be recognized in a league with so many good players," said Andrusiak. "They could've picked others from our team as well. We played as one unit and produced this week. It's been the reason that we've had so much success the last few weeks and it's reflected in the standings. I wouldn't have been able to accomplish what I have without the work ethic and success of our entire team."
The Yorkton, Saskatchewan native is in his fourth professional season and his second in Cincinnati after being acquired in a trade last January. Since joining the Cyclones, Andrusiak has scored 42 goals and produced 101 points in 79 games. Andrusiak's efforts were rewarded late last season when he earned a two-game call-up to the AHL's Tucson Roadrunners.
"Zack has just been a consistently hard-working player since the first day we brought him to Cincinnati," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Jason Payne. "He has an elite ability to score goals, but we've also watched his versatility blossom this season. He can take face-offs, play the wing, make plays, and even drop the gloves and fight for his teammates. He does a bit of everything and we look forward to seeing his continued success and development."
Thanks to the partnership between the ECHL and Inglasco, a case of pucks will be donated to a Cincinnati youth hockey organization on behalf of Zack Andrusiak.
