CYCLONES FALL IN OVERTIME TO TOLEDO

Vail's Pair Not Enough in Home Defeat

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (2-1-1-0) dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Toledo Walleye on Wednesday night. Forward Brady Vail netted a pair of goals, while forward Pascal Aquin lit the lamp once for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones drew first blood late in the opening period when Vail skated into the top of the right circle and fired a shot through a screen in front that beat Walleye netminder Pat Nagle, putting Cincinnati ahead, 1-0, after 20 minutes.

Toledo came alive in the second, getting three goals from forwards Dylan Sadoway and Greg Wolfe, and defenseman Brendan Kotyk to take a 3-1 lead after two periods.

Cincinnati was not deterred and started their comeback in the second, as 7:35 in off a faceoff, defenseman Anthony Florentino sent a shot from the point that was deflected in by Aquin to pull the Cyclones to within a goal, 3-2.

The Cyclones tallied the equalizer less than two minutes later when Vail took a loose puck in the left circle and snapped in his second of the game to pull Cincinnati even, 3-3. The Cyclones received several more scoring chances throughout the remainder of regulation, however could not get the go-ahead goal, and the teams headed into overtime tied, 3-3.

In the extra session, Toledo needed just 56 seconds to net the winner when forward TJ Hensick lit the lamp to lift the Walleye to a 4-3 overtime win. Cincinnati outshot Toledo, 34-28, with goaltender Michael Houser turning aside 24 in the loss. The Cyclones wrap up their three-game homestand on Friday night against the Kalamazoo Wings. Face-off is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
