COMEBACK FALLS SHORT IN 2017 ROAD FINALE
Cincinnati Wraps up Three-in-three on Sunday Evening
Indianapolis, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (18-11-1-0) fell to the Indy Fuel, 2-1, on Saturday night. Forward Winston Day Chief netted the lone goal for Cincinnati.
After the Fuel took a 1-0 lead through 20 minutes on a goal from Darian Dziurzynski just 67 seconds into the opening period, they tacked on a second midway through the third when Johnny McInnis lit the lamp to give Indy a 2-0 lead.
The Cyclones were not deterred and cut their deficit in half at the 11:37 mark of the period when Day Chief took a pass from forward Dominic Zombo, and sniped a shot in from the right circle to put the ‘Clones on the board, 2-1.
Indy’s 2-1 lead held up throughout the remainder of the second, and in the third, Cincinnati received a multitude of Grade A scoring chances, including several in the final minutes with the goaltender pulled, however they were unable to net the equalizer and the Fuel held on for the 2-1 win.
The Cyclones outshot the Fuel, 35-20 on the night, with goaltender Jonas Johansson turning aside 18 in a losing effort. Cincinnati returns home to wrap up 2017 on Sunday night against the Brampton Beast. Face-off is slated for 6:05pm ET.
