ILES PERFECT AS CYCLONES WIN THIRD STRAIGHT

Cincinnati Victorious in Front End of Home-And-Home

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (24-19-3-2) collected their third straight win, with a 2-0 victory over the Evansville IceMen on Saturday night. Forwards Nick Huard and Zach Budish scored the goals for the Cyclones, while netminder Andy Iles earned his first shutout of the season.

For the fifth straight game, Cincinnati netted the first goal of the game, when a shot from Huard was kicked out by Evansville goaltender Scott Greenham, but Huard got his own rebound and skated around Greenham, and tucked the puck into the net, giving the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.

That 1-0 lead held up throughout the remainder of the first, and in the second, Cincinnati received a plethora of quality scoring chances, including a number of odd-man rushes, however Greenham made some big saves at some key times for the IceMen, and the Cyclones took their 1-0 lead into the locker room after 40 minutes.

The IceMen started to turn the tide offensively in the third, outshooting Cincinnati, 11-2, through the first 10 minutes of the frame. Despite the increasing pressure from Evansville, the Cyclones managed to net the all-important insurance goal, when forward Joe Wilson sent a pass from below the goal line to Budish, who floated the puck over the shoulder of Greenham, extending Cincinnati’s lead to 2-0, 13:15 into the third.

Evansville continued to get good offensive scoring chances, however Iles was perfect on the night, stopping all 31 shots he faced to preserve the 2-0 Cyclones win.

Cincinnati outshot Evansville, 35-31 on the night, and neither team recorded a penalty in the game, marking the lowest-combined penalty total for the Cyclones this season. The Cyclones wrap up their home-and-home series with the IceMen on Sunday night in Evansville, with the faceoff scheduled for 7:15pm ET.
