SECOND STRAIGHT COMBACK BID COMES UP SHORT FOR CYCLONES

Dominant Third Period Not Enough to Overcome Indy

Indianapolis, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (32-22-3-3) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Indy Fuel on Sunday afternoon. Forward Peter Quenneville scored the lone goal for the Cyclones.

After the Fuel took a 1-0 lead after the first on a goal from forward Peter Schneider, Indy tacked on one more in the second from forward Alex Lavoie to take a 2-0 advantage midway through the second.

The Cyclones received a number of quality scoring chances in the second, and goaltender Andy Iles came up with some key saves in the middle stanza to keep Cincinnati’s deficit at 2-0 after 40 minutes.

Cincinnati continued to apply the offensive pressure in the third, and with a little under four minutes left in the frame, forward Nick Huard took a shot that resulted in a scramble in front of the net, and Quenneville picked up the puck and fired it in, cutting the Cyclones’ deficit to 2-1.

The Cyclones got a few more scoring chances late but could not net the equalizer, and the Fuel held on for the 2-1 win.

Cincinnati outshot the Fuel, 36-31 on the afternoon, with Iles stopping 29 to take the loss. The Cyclones return home on Thursday night to take on the Wheeling Nailers, at 7:35pm ET.
