Cincinnati Suffers just Third Regulation Home Loss
Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (15-14-3-2) fell to the Ft. Wayne Komets, 4-1, on Wednesday night. Forward Zach Budish scored the lone goal for Cincinnati.
After a scoreless opening frame, Cincinnati got on the board early in the second, when a shot from forward Andrew Yogan deflected off of Budish out front and into the net, putting the Cyclones up, 1-0, 2:53 into the frame.
The Komets turned up the offensive pressure soon thereafter, receiving even strength goals from forwards Garrett Thompson and Shawn Szydlowski, and a shorthanded marker from forward Mike Embach, to take a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes.
The Komets added one more from forward Joe Perry midway through the third, sealing Ft. Wayne’s 4-1 win. The Cyclones were outshot, 39-31 on the night, while the power play was scoreless on all five chances.
Cincinnati heads back out on the road for a trio of games in Allen against the defending ECHL Kelly Cup champion Americans, starting Saturday at 8:05pm ET.
