GREENVILLE, South Carolina – Anthony Luciani collected a three-point night to help the Greenville Road Warriors (32-27-1-3) defeat the Cincinnati Cyclones (27-27-1-5) by a 5-2 final score in front of 3,029 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Thursday night.

The Road Warriors drew first blood midway through the opening period as Anthony Luciani blasted a power play goal past Rob Madore (L, 41 saves, 12-16-1-4) to make it 1-0. The Cyclones answered back later in the frame when Garrett Noonan took a shot from a sharp angle that redirected off of skates in front and through the legs of Jason Missiaen (W, 27 saves, 13-14-0-3), knotting things at one through 20 minutes.

Greenville regained the cushion at the 6:50 mark of the middle stanza when Michael St. Croix sniped a shot past Madore right off of a face-off to make it 2-1. The home team struck again moments later, at 10:41, when Josh Nicholls collected a rebound and the side of the net and potted his 19th goal of the season to give his team a 3-1 edge after two.

After more than 14 minutes of back-and-forth hockey to start the third period, the Cyclones finally got back on the board when Branden Gracel redirected home Shayne Taker’s point shot at 14:40 to pull his team to within one at 3-2. Unfortunately, the Road Warriors responded just a few minutes later to regain the two-goal cushion; after a scramble effort, Thomas Frazee captured a loose puck and lifted over Madore to make it 4-2. Then, in the final minutes, Luciani added an empty-net tally to seal a 5-2 win for the Road Warriors. The victory for Greenville snapped its six-game losing skid.

The same two teams will battle again tomorrow night at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena at 7:00pm. Fans can hear the action of the game beginning at 6:45pm on the Cyclones Radio Network and WATCH live at the Game Time Sports Bar & Grill in Cheviot.
