TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight the Cyclones will open their nine-game regular season slate against the South Division as they entertain the Greenville Road Warriors at U.S. Bank Arena. In 2010-11, the Cyclones were 2-1-0-1 against the Road Warriors and won the only meeting between the two clubs in Downtown Cincinnati by a 4-3 score on February 25.

SCOUTING THE ROAD WARRIORS: Losers of two straight, Dean Stork’s club currently pulls up the rear in the South Division standings with a record of 8-7-0. However, similar to the Cincinnati, they have several games in hand on its opponents. Despite allowing the second-most average goals per game (3.60), the Road Warriors have found success from goaltender Nic Riopel, who has earned all eight of the team’s wins, going 8-2-0 thus far with an ECHL 10th-best 2.69 goals against average. His win totals are also good for a third-place tie in the league. Jeff Prough leads Greenville in scoring this season with 18 points (10 goals, 8 assists) in 15 games, which ranks eighth-best in the ECHL. The Road Warriors also sport the league’s top power play unit, connecting on more than 25 percent of their chances.

About Friday Night Toledo: The Walleye erased a two-goal deficit in the third period to rally past the Cyclones by a 3-2 final score in front of 6,181 at Huntington Center. Mathieu Aubin and Jonathan Hazen each scored for the Cyclones in a losing effort. For Hazen, the tally was his first professional goal.

Cincinnati Home Warriors: So far this season, the Clones have been very successful in Downtown Cincinnati. Coming into the week, the Cyclones are 4-0-0-1 at U.S. Bank Arena. They are the only team in the ECHL that has yet to lose a home game in regulation and have strung together the second longest active home winning streak in the league.

Packing Puckopolis: Cincinnati’s attendance at U.S. Bank Arena has been a record breaker this season. So far, the Clones are averaging 4,867 fans per game, sixth-best in the league. It is the best start, attendance-wise, that the Cyclones have had since returning to ECHL play in 2006.

Southern Comfort: Cincinnati has, historically, had great success against teams from the South Division. Since 2006, the Cyclones have earned a 28-16-3-1 record against such teams. In 2010-11, they were a staggering 14-4-1-1 against the South Division.
