Cyclones Agree to Terms with Mathieu Aubin for 2013-14

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Mathieu Aubin for the 2013-14 season.

Aubin, a 26-year-old Sorel, Quebec native, ranks second on the club’s all-time Games Played list by having logged 291 contests in a Cincinnati jersey over six seasons. In 2012-13, the former Montreal Canadiens draft choice led the Cyclones in points (57), assists (38), and multi-point games (17). The Cyclones captain scored his 100th goal for the club on December 29 at Evansville followed by his 300th professional point on the same night with an assist.

“Mathieu continues to be the face of our organization,” said Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. “He has really grown as a leader over the last few seasons and I’m excited to have him back with our group again this year.”

The son of former NHL forward and Cincinnati Tiger, Normand Aubin, Mathieu will embark on his seventh stint with the Cyclones and likely will set several club records along the way. He needs just 15 points to pass Barret Ehgoetz for the all-time scoring lead, nine goals to become the all-time goal-scoring record holder, and 27 assists to become the best “helper” man in club history. In addition to his two Kelly Cup titles, Aubin is the club’s all-time playoff games-played leader (77), playoff goal scorer (24), and playoff game-winning goal scorer (4). He took home the ECHL’s Plus Performer of the Year in 2011-12 by finishing with a league-leading +25 plus/minus rating.
