THIS PAST WEEK:
About Last Friday Night vs. Reading: The Royals used a three-goal second period to propel themselves to a 4-2 win over the Cyclones in front of 3,666 at U.S. Bank Arena. The victory for the visiting Royals extended their winning streak to eight games. Rookie Josh Birkholz earned his first pro goal for Cincinnati in the defeat.
About Last Thursday Night vs. Evansville: Evansville forward Dan Gendur blasted in the game-winning goal with just 1:11 left to play in regulation to lift the IceMen to a 4-3 win over the Cyclones in front of 2,237 at U.S. Bank Arena. The loss snapped Cincinnati’s five-game home winning streak. Josh Shalla had his second straight two goal game in a losing effort.
About Last Tuesday Morning vs. South Carolina: Cyclones rookie Josh Shalla picked up his second goal and third point on the day when he fired home the game-winner at 16:08 of the third period as the Cyclones picked up a 3-2 victory over the Stingrays in front of 3,487 at U.S. Bank Arena. The victory extended the Cyclones home winning streak to five games.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
Turkey Week: The Cyclones kick off a three-game Thanksgiving Week with their first home meeting with the Toledo Walleye at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday night before visiting their I-75 rivals on Friday. Then, on Saturday night, the Clones will visit WesBanco Arena for the first time during regular season play.
Shalla and Reid Get "The Call": After a strong stretch of games, Cyclones forwards Josh Shalla and Cam Reid have been recalled to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). Shalla is coming off of the best week of his career, where he posted five points (4g, 1a) in three games - earning him a nomination for ECHL Player of the Week. He currently ranks tied for third on the Cyclones in scoring. Reid, who is second on the team with 8 points, will be making his second trip to the American Hockey League after skating in one game with the Peoria Rivermen this past weekend.
Stayin' Stingy: The Cyclones have been especially tough on defense in the first period, allowing only 9 goals in the opening frame this season...good for 2nd least in the ECHL.
Foster Returns: After missing last week due to injury, Cyclones goaltender Brian Foster is expected to make his return to the ice this week. Despite missing the last three-plus games, Foster is still 6th best in the ECHL with a 2.26 goals-against average. He has earned all but one of the Cyclones victories this season…his seven wins rank tied for third in the league.
Coors Light Jarrod Skalde Show TONIGHT: Join Head Coach Jarrod Skalde and Voice of the Cyclones Nick Brunker at Tap House Grill in Kenwood from 7-8pm as they chat about this past week of hockey and look ahead to another busy stretch ahead. In addition, Cyclones goaltender Brian Foster and forward Dan Eves will be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures!
