Cyclones Blank Nailers 3-0
WHEELING, West Virginia – Brian Foster turned aside a season-high 43 saves to earn his third shutout of the season as the Cincinnati Cyclones (32-26-2-7) blanked the Wheeling Nailers (35-24-4-4) by a 3-0 final score in front of 3,081 at WesBanco Arena on Friday night. It was the fourth time this year that the Cyclones were able to shutout an opponent.
The Cyclones drew first blood in the first frame when Keith Seabrook sent a wrist shot through a screen from the left point and into the net at 16:05 to give his team a 1-0 lead. And thanks to 14 opening period saves from Brian Foster (W, 43 saves, 14-9-1-1), Cincinnati held a 1-0 edge.
Midway through the middle stanza, Anthony Luciani gave the Cyclones a two-goal lead when he potted his 21st goal of the season past Peter Delmas (L, 16 saves, 18-13-1-2) at 11:32 after a beautiful cross-ice feed from Matt Sisca. After two periods, the Cyclones were up 2-0.
Foster continued to shine in the third period, turning aside all 13 shots sent his way. And at 18:57, Matt Carter grabbed a loose puck in the Wheeling zone and buried and empty net strike, capping off a 3-0 win for Cincinnati. Foster ended up with a season high 43 saves to earn his third shutout of the season.
