KASDORF PERFECT AS CYCLONES BLANK FISH
Cincinnati Begins New Year on a High Note
Toledo, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (20-11-1-0) shutout the Toledo Walleye, 3-0, on Friday night. Forwards Shawn O’Donnell, Justin Vaive, and Winston Day Chief scored the goals for Cincinnati, while goaltender Jason Kasdorf earned his first clean sheet of the season, stopping all 29 shots he faced.
After a scoreless opening period, Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead, 3:41 into the second while shorthanded, when a cross-ice pass from O’Donnell in the left circle was inadvertently deflected into the Walleye cage by a Toledo defender to give the ‘Clones a 1-0 lead.
That 1-0 Cyclones lead held up throughout the remainder of the second period, and in the third Cincinnati extended their lead to a pair when forward Jesse Schultz found Vaive in the slot and he fired a shot in to give the ‘Clones a 2-0 edge.
Cincinnati put the final nail in the coffin at the 14:46 mark of the frame, when forward Brandon McNally sent a pass to Day Chief on the back door, and he slid it in to cap off the Cyclones’ 3-0 win.
Each team recorded 29 shots on goal in this one, while the Cyclones were a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. The Cyclones return home on Saturday night to take on the Wheeling Nailers. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
