THIS PAST WEEK:

About Sunday Afternoon in Kalamazoo:
A trio of third period goals for the Wings proved to be enough to beat the Cyclones, as they took a 4-1 decision at Wings Stadium.  With the victory, Kalamazoo has now earned a point in 13 consecutive games.  Brady Calla tipped home the lone goal for the Cyclones on the day.  Cincinnati is still winless on the road at K-Zoo this year, going 0-3-1-1 this season.

About Saturday Night vs. Toledo:
The Walleye buried three unanswered goals in the third period en route to a 5-2 victory over the Cyclones in front of 6,918 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night.  It was the third-largest home crowd of the 2010-11 regular season.  Samson Mahbod scored a goal for the second time in as-many nights while T.J. Fast recorded his ninth goal of the season in a losing effort.

About Friday Night in Wheeling:  A pair of third period goals by the Nailers broke a scoreless tie and turned out to be just enough to sneak past the Cyclones by a 2-1 score at WesBanco Arena on Friday night.  With the victory, the Nailers also took the 2010-11 season series against the Cyclones eight games to three.

About Wednesday Night vs. Reading:
Mathieu Aubin earned his 11th multi-point game of the season as he helped li! the Cyclones to a 3-2 win over the Royals in front of 3,033 at U.S. Bank Arena. Dustin Sproat extended his point-scoring streak to six games by notching a goal while Brian Foster had another solid e$ ort between the pipes, stopping 26 shots to earn the victory.

STORYLINES:

On the Road Again:
After playing all but two games at home in the month of February, the Cyclones will spent the majority of March, 2011 away from U.S. Bank Arena.  On Wednesday, Cincinnati opens a seven-game road trip against three of the four South Division teams - beginning with the South Carolina Stingrays.  The ‘Clones played very well against the ‘Rays earlier this year, going 2-0-1 in a series at U.S. Bank Arena.  Cincy outscored South Carolina 11-5 in the three-game stretch, outshooting them 101-75.

Southern Comfort Resumes:  The Cyclones have found their best success against the South Division this season...posting a 9-3-1 mark collectively in 2010-11.  Although a small sample size, the special teams have been very solid against the ‘Rays as well; through three games, they’ve capitalized on six out of 12 power plays while killing off seven of eight penalties.

A Reunion of Sorts:  This week’s series with South Carolina will mark the first time that Dan Eves, Samson Mahbod, and Jake Hauswirth have faced their former club.  Since joining the ‘Clones, all three have made immediate impacts.  Eves has registered a point in eight of his last nine games while Mahbod has six points in the same stretch.  While still scoreless in a Cincinnati jersey, Hauswirth has been a physical presence on the ice every single night.

An Eye on the East:  As of today, here is a quick snapshot of how the Eastern Conference playoff race shapes up:
6 - Wheeling - 65 points
7 - Gwinnett -  63 points
8 - Elmira - 61 points
9 - Cincinnati - 59 points
10 - Toledo - 58 points
