TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight the Cyclones will try to do what seemed like a nearly impossible task earlier this week - skate into Florida and pick up a three-game sweep of the Everblades. A win for Cincinnati could also put them in position to tie the North Division lead while in the process, send Florida to its longest losing streak of the season.
SCOUTING THE EVERBLADES: Florida has now dropped three straight games (which ties their season high) and remain five points behind the Greenville Road Warriors in the South Division. While their 125 goals-scored still pace the ECHL, their 112 goals against ranks them 17th out of 19 teams. Francis Lemieux added to his season totals last night with an assist on the lone Florida goal and now has 41 points (16 goals, 25 assists) in 36 games - ranking second in the league. The ECHL’s leading scorer, Mitch Fadden had his six-game point scoring streak snapped.
STARTING STRONG: Cincinnati has found the majority of its offense in the opening period of games this season, scoring a combined 34 goals. They have scored the game’s first goal 16 times in 2010-11.
FULL STRENGTH FURY: The Cyclones have had their best success offensively during five-on-five play. Through 33 games this season, they are outscoring their opponents 61-50 in such situations. All five of their goals in this series with Florida have been during five-on-five play.
APPROACHING TWO MORE MILESTONES: Cyclones captain Barret Ehgoetz is closing in on a pair of Cyclones records. He needs just two points to tie Todd Simon for fourth on the All-Time Cyclones point list. Next week, he will also pass Jeff Wells for fourth on the All-Time Cyclones games-played list.
