TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: As winter rages on in the Midwest, tonight the Cyclones will enjoy some warmer weather as they open a three-game series with the Florida Everblades at Germain Arena. Since 2006, Cincinnati is 1-2-0 in Florida, with all three road meetings coming in the 2008-09 season. Overall in the same span, they’re record stands at 3-6-0. The Everblades took a pair of games from the Cyclones in early December at U.S. Bank Arena.
SCOUTING THE EVERBLADES: Despite sporting the ECHL’s top offense, Florida is ranked second in the South Division with a 21-14-0-1 record. The Everblades also have the league’s top two scorers; Mitch Fadden leads the ECHL with 50 points (15 goals, 35 assists) in 35 games. Francis Lemieux ranks second with 39 points (15 goals, 24 assists). While the Everblades are a very potent offensive unit, they have also allowed 107 goals this year - the third most in the ECHL.
PIERCE THE POINT MACHINE: Cyclones forward Matt Pierce has been on a roll since returning from Rochester. In his last six games since coming back, the 2010 ECHL All-Star has put points up in four of them - including a multi-point game against Wheeling on December 26 at WesBanco Arena.
BACK TO MILWAUKEE HE GOES: For the second time this season, Chet Pickard has been recalled to AHL Milwaukee. In his latest call-up (from 12/3-12/21), Pickard went 1-1-0 with a 2.29 goals-against average. Nashville’s 2008 first round selection has a career AHL record of 15-20-4.
