Former Cyclone Mark Dekanich Makes NHL Debut with Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- This past Saturday night, former Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Mark Dekanich made his NHL debut with the Nashville Predators in a 6-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The 24 year-old British Columbia native made 22 saves on 25 shots in 49:59 of playing time for the Predators.
 
The Cincinnati Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the Predators and the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
 
Dekanich appeared in two games with Cincinnati in 2009-10 going 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.48 goals-against average and a save percentage of .981 earning him ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors for the week of November 30-December 6, 2009.

A 2006 fifth-round selection of the Predators, Dekanich has spent the previous three seasons with Milwaukee appearing in 96 games with a record of 52-29-9, eight shutouts, a 2.15 goals-against average and a save percentage of .922.

He becomes the fourth former Cyclones player to skate in an NHL game.  Greg Stewart (2006-07), David Desharnais (2007-08), and J.T. Wyman (2008-09) are the other three.

 

The Cyclones will enjoy a week off for Christmas before getting back to action on Sunday, December 26 – when they’ll meet the Wheeling Nailers at WesBanco Arena at 5:05pm.
