Former Cyclone Frederic St. Denis Makes NHL Debut with Montreal
MONTREAL, Quebec - Former Cincinnati Cyclones defenseman Frederic St. Denis became the sixth Cyclones player to play in the National Hockey League when he made his debut with the Montreal Canadiens in a 4-0 win against the Carolina Hurricanes last night.
The 25-year-old registered two shots on goal, four penalty minutes and was a +1 in 13:42 of ice time for the Canadiens, whose line-up also included former Cyclone David Desharnais.
The Cyclones served as the Montreal Canadiens ECHL Affiliate until last season.
St. Denis scored 23 points (1g-22a) and was a +28 in 41 games with Cincinnati in 2008-09. He added five points (0g-5a) in 15 Kelly Cup Playoffs games as the Cyclones advanced to the American Conference Finals. St. Denis has scored 50 points (12g-38a) in 156 regular season games with Hamilton over the past four seasons, and has added 16 points (1g-15a) in 54 postseason contests.
St. Denis becomes the sixth former Cyclones player to skate in an NHL game, and the first this season. Greg Stewart (2006-07), David Desharnais (2007-08), J.T. Wyman (2008-09), Mark Dekanich (2009-10) and Cedrick Desjardins (2006-08) are the other five.
The Cyclones will be back on the ice at U.S. Bank Arena TOMORROW night as they play host to the Reading Royals at 7:30pm.
