SMERECK BACK FROM SAN JOSE

SMERECK BACK FROM SAN JOSE

The Cyclones announced earlier today that defenseman Jalen Smereck has been returned to the team from his AHL call-up to San Jose. Additionally, defenseman Chays Ruddy has been released.

Smereck, 25, was sent to the Barracuda in late November and skated in 10 games, logging two assists, nine penalty minutes, and a +/-1 rating. The Detroit, Michigan native has played 77 AHL games over the course of his five year career, and 199 games as a pro, accumulating 25 goals and 89 assists for 114 points.

Smereck began the season in Cincinnati, marking his return to the ECHL after having last played in the league with Rapid City in early 2020. In 12 games with the Cyclones, Smereck leads the team's defense in scoring with two goals and 12 points.
