SINCLAIR MAKES 28 SAVES IN 6-3 LOSS TO GROWLERS
Mark Sinclair made his professional debut and stopped 28 shots, but the Growlers' power play struck for a second straight night, on top of an Orrin Centazzo hat trick to lift Newfoundland to a 6-3 win.
The Cyclones are 35-31-3-0. They play one more game in this current road trip.
- Lukas Craggs began the scoring less than two minutes into the first, beating his former Cyclones teammate, Angus Redmond, making it 1-0 with his ninth goal of the season. Craggs crashed the net after receiving a pass from Luc Brown.
- Orrin Centazzo found the equalizer 16:48 into the first, sliding a puck through the legs of Sinclair.
- For the second straight night, Newfoundland's power play made an impact. Zach O'Brien got the lead for the Growlers 13:12 into the middle frame on the power play, then Jeremy McKenna followed with a 5-on-4 goal less than four minutes later.
- A late second period goal from Andrusiak came when the team's leading scorer intercepted a puck from Newfoundland in center ice, then entered the zone through the left wing where he'd shoot it past the glove of Redmond to make it 3-2.
- Each team traded 4-on-4 goals to start the third. Centazzo netted his second of the night just 12 seconds into the period, but Andrusiak responded with his second as well, coming 55 seconds later.
- With the score 4-3, the Cyclones were charged a bench minor for too many men on the ice with 4:02 to play. They eliminated all chances for Newfoundland until Isaac Johnson weaved his way through center and got a breakaway to beat Sinclair and make it 5-3. Centazzo then scored an empty net goal in the final minute for the hat trick and 6-3 final.
The Cyclones and Growlers conclude their three game weekend Sunday afternoon.
