MURRAY NAMED ECHL ATHLETIC TRAINER OF THE YEAR

Cyclones Athletic Trainer Tim Murray has been named the recipient of the 2021-22 ECHL Athletic Trainer of the Year Award, presented by Warrior Hockey.

Murray, 35, becomes the second athletic trainer in team history to earn this honor, joining Bob Case, who earned the award for the 2012-13 season. Murray was selected for the award via a vote by the ECHL's athletic trainers.

"It's the highest of compliments to be voted by my peers as the Athletic Trainer of the Year in the ECHL," said Murray. "I couldn't have done it without the Cyclones and this organization's belief in me, along with the help of my sports medicine staff, from my students at Miami University and Xavier University, to my team doctor at UC Health. Everyone played a role in keeping our players healthy. This award isn't just for me, it's for our entire sports medicine staff."

A native of Edgewood, Kentucky, Murray has been a certified athletic trainer for 13 years. His experience has been felt at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels across a variety of sports. Prior to the Cyclones, Murray had recently been the athletic trainer for the Florence Freedom; a professional baseball team in the Frontier League. Murray joined the Cyclones full-time during the 2019-20 season.

"Our staff and entire organization are happy for Tim," said Cyclones Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Jason Payne. "He's put in a lot of work and is dedicated to his craft. He takes pride in what he does and comes to the rink every day, bright and early, ready to take care of our players."

"There are so many people behind the scenes in professional sports who help keep the ship afloat and I am thrilled to see Tim named ECHL Athletic Trainer of the Year," said Cyclones Vice President and general Manager, Kristin Ropp. "Tim is the epitome of hard work paying off."
