CYCLONES TAME BEAST
Cincinnati Picks Up Win in Weekend Finale
Brampton, ON- The Cincinnati Cyclones (34-23-2-0) earned a 3-2 win over the Brampton Beast on Sunday afternoon. Forwards Justin Vaive, Shawn O’Donnell, and Daniel Muzito-Bagenda tallied the goals for Cincinnati, who snap their two-game skid.
Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when Muzito-Bagenda sent a pass from the bottom of the right circle out to Vaive in front, and he slammed it in for his 23 goal of the season.
The Cyclones’ momentum was short lived, as Brampton countered with a pair, including one with one second left from defenseman Tyson Wilson and forward Chris Leveille to take a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Cincinnati tied the game at the 12:31 mark of the second when defenseman Brock Beukeboom sent a stretch pass to O’Donnell and he skated in on a breakaway and scored to pull the Cyclones even, 2-2.
The 2-2 score held up throughout the remainder of the second, and in the third the Cyclones power play contributed when Muzito-Bagenda launched a shot from the left circle off a pass from forward Jesse Schultz and scored to give Cincinnati a 3-2 lead, 9:13 into the frame.
That was all the offense Cincinnati needed, as Jason Kasdorf steered aside 39-of-41 Brampton shots to preserve the 3-2 win. The Cyclones were outshot, 41-23 on the afternoon, while the power play converted on one of five chances. Cincinnati next takes the ice at home on Friday night against the Indy Fuel. Face-off is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
