CYCLONES FALL IN WEEKEND FINALE
Cincinnati Drops Final Game in Toledo this Season
Toledo, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (22-17-2-0) lost a 6-2 decision to the Toledo Walleye on Sunday evening. Forwards Winston Day Chief and Daniel Muzito-Bagenda found the back of the net for the Cyclones.
After the Walleye took a 1-0 lead through the first on a power play marker from forward Kyle Bonis, Toledo added two more early in the second on goals from defensemen Patrick McCarron and Ryan Obuchowski to take a 3-0 lead.
Cincinnati continued their recent power play success and got on the board at the 11:43 mark of the frame when a pass from Day Chief found McNally in front of the net, and he slammed it in to cut the Cyclones deficit to 3-1 after 40 minutes.
The third period saw the Walleye regain the momentum and skate out to a 5-1 lead 4:11 into the frame on goals from forwards Austen Brassard and Shane Berschbach.
Cincinnati struck once more on the power play at the 13:09 mark when defenseman Mitch Nylen tossed a pass to Muzito-Bagenda, and he hammered a slap shot in from the left circle to pull the Cyclones back to within three, 5-2. The goal marked the third power play tally in as many games for Muzito-Bagenda, and the seventh in the last four games for Cincinnati.
Toledo put the game out of reach for good just 31 seconds later when Berschbach lit the lamp for the second time in the period to send the Walleye to a 6-2 win. The Cyclones were outshot on the night, 44-30, with netminder Jonas Johansson steering aside 38 in the loss.
Cincinnati heads out on the road for three straight beginning on Wednesday night in the Quad Cities against the Mallards. Face-off is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
