CYCLONES CLIP WINGS AT HOME

McNally’s Pair, Houser’s Monster Night Leads Cincinnati to Victory

Cincinnati, OH-The Cincinnati Cyclones (12-11-4-0) earned a 4-1 win over the Kalamazoo Wings on Tuesday night. Forward Brandon McNally potted a pair of goals, while forwards Dominic Zombo, and Andrew Yogan added lone tallies for Cincinnati.

Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead with 30 seconds to play in the opening period when a massive check from forward Seth Ambroz in the right corner jarred the puck off the stick of a Kalamazoo defender, and he sent a pass to Zombo in the slot who rifled it past Wings goaltender Joel Martin for his eighth goal of the season.

The Cyclones extended their lead to 2-0 early in the second when a shot from McNally from the right circle was turned away by Martin, but the rebound was played right to Yogan who rifled it in, 5:17 into the middle frame.

The Wings turned up the offensive pressure later in the frame, outshooting Cincinnati 16-4 in the period. Goaltender Michael Houser kept the Cyclones ahead with myriad of stellar saves, many of them coming while shorthanded, and Cincinnati took their 2-0 lead into the locker room after 40 minutes.

Kalamazoo took back some of the momentum and cut Cincinnati’s lead in half at 2-1 when Tanner Sorenson netted his sixth of the season, 6:21 into the third period.

Cincinnati responded roughly seven minutes later, when a shot from the slot from Ambroz deflected off Martin, but McNally was there to bang home the rebound to extend the Cyclones’ lead back to a pair, 3-1.

McNally capped off the big win with 1:11 remaining in the game when he found the back of the empty net to seal Cincinnati’s 4-1 win.

Houser put together another impeccable performance, turning aside 35 of the 36 shots he faced in the win. Cincinnati hits the road for the first of two, starting Thursday night in Ft. Wayne against the Komets. Face-off is slated for 7:30 pm ET.
