CYCLONES FALL ON FIELD TRIP DAY
Kalamazoo Exacts Revenge from Friday’s Shutout
Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (7-6-1-0) fell to the Kalamazoo Wings, 3-1, on Tuesday morning. Forward Tommy Mele scored the lone goal for the Cyclones, who see their six-game point streak snapped.
After a hard-hitting back-and-fourth scoreless first period, the Cyclones drew first blood early in the second when Mele brought the puck over the left-wing blue line and hammered a slapshot that beat Kalamazoo goaltender Nick Riopel to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead, 4:08 into the frame.
The Wings answered back roughly 10 minutes later when defenseman Charlie Vasaturo buried a slapshot of his own from center point to tie the game, 1-1.
The 1-1 score held up throughout the remainder of the second period, and in the third Kalamazoo went ahead for good when forward Tanner Sorenson lit the lamp to put the Wings ahead, 2-1.
The Cyclones had a few more offensive chances later in the frame, however an empty netter from Justin Taylor sealed the 3-1 win for Kalamazoo.
Cyclones goaltender Michael Houser stopped 30 of the 32 shots he faced in the loss. Cincinnati continues their four-game homestand on Friday night against the Atlanta Gladiators. Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
