For Immediate Release: December 26, 2015
Cincinnati loses Two-Goal Lead, Drops Finale of Road Trip
Evansville, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (13-9-2-2) fell to the Evansville IceMen, 4-2, on Saturday night. Forwards Andrew Yogan and Mike Hammond scored the lone goals for the Cyclones.
Cincinnati wasted little time getting on the board in this one, as just 1:45 into the opening frame, Yogan took the puck around the net and fired a turnaround shot from the right circle into the net, putting the Cyclones up, 1-0.
Cincinnati’s 1-0 lead held up throughout the remainder of the first period, and in the second, the Cyclones struck early again, when a shot from defenseman Dax Lauwers ricocheted off of the end boards to forward Christiaan Minella, and he sent a drop pass to Hammond who floated the puck into the net, putting Cincinnati up, 2-0, 1:29 into the second.
Evansville’s offense came alive late in the frame, as they got goals from forwards Matthew Zay and Daultan Leveille to tie the game, 2-2, after 40 minutes.
The third period saw a number of quality chances from both sides, however a goal from Jordan Sims with 62 seconds left in the third gave the IceMen a 3-2 lead.
The Cyclones pulled the goaltender, however an empty netter from forward Mike Duco with 20 seconds left sealed the 4-2 win for the IceMen.
Cincinnati was outshot, 51-19 on the night, with Neil Conway stopping 47 in the loss. The Cyclones return home on Tuesday night to take on the Indy Fuel. Faceoff is slated for 7:30pm ET.
