CYCLONES NAME 2015-2016 LEADERSHIP GROUP
Three-Man Group Brings Wealth of Leadership Experience
CINCINNATI, OH-The Cincinnati Cyclones have announced their leadership group for 2015-2016. Included in this year’s leadership group will be forwards Zach Budish and Andrew Yogan, and defenseman Riley Weselowski.
“We feel as a group that Zach, Andrew and Riley are the three guys that can lead this team the right way on and off the ice,” said Cyclones Head Coach Matt MacDonald. “All three have shown at different times in their careers that they can be leaders, and haven’t taken a step back in that area since showing up to Cincinnati.”
Budish and Yogan have both spent time with the Cyclones in the past. Budish appeared in 30 games for Cincinnati last season, accounting for eight goals and 15 assists. He also saw a brief 16-game stint with the Cyclones in 2013-2014, accounting for three goals and six assists. Yogan only saw four games of action at the beginning of the 2014-2015 season, however he had an immediate impact, potting a pair of goals and dishing out five assists in those contests.
Weselowski is a newcomer to the Cyclones, having spent the last six seasons with the Rapid City Rush. He helped the Rush to a Central Hockey League (CHL) championship in 2010, and holds team records for games played (318), postseason games played (59), goals by a defenseman (25), assists by a defenseman (109), and points by a defenseman (134). His +75 on-ice rating is also tied for the all-time team high.
“It was a tough decision since we have a lot of different guys that have shown great leadership qualities so far,” continued MacDonald. “Those three are the players that their peers and our staff believe can continue to push us in the right direction."
