THIRSTY THURSDAY / DUMB AND DUMBER NIGHT

Tonight's Matchup: After dropping a close 4-3 decision last night at U.S. Bank Arena, the Cyclones are back on the road to close out this three game weekend as they meet the Toledo Walleye for the second time this season. The Clones took a 4-1 win from their interstate rivals on opening night to run their road record against Toledo (Walleye/Storm) to 23-16-1 since the 2006-07 season.

Scouting the Walleye: Derek Lalonde’s club roared to a convincing 5-0 win last night against Evansville and now sit 3rd in the North Division standings. Former Cyclone Anthony Luciani paces the club in scoring with 10 points in seven games despite owning a team-worst -4 plus/minus rating. Dane Walters has been a pleasant surprise for Toledo as well, notching eight tallies (5g, 3a) in his seven contests. With Jared Coreau recalled to Grand Rapids, Jeff Lerg has been the go-to-guy in net for the Walleye; the former Michigan State Spartan has gone 3-1-0-0 this season with an 1.51 goals-against average.

Last Time Out: An early third period goal by David Gilbert proved to be the game winner as the Wheeling Nailers narrowly defeated the Cyclones by a 4-3 final score in front of 5,062 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night. Byron Froese netted two assists and registered seven shots on net despite the defeat.

Spreading the Wealth: Although it’s early in the year, plenty of different names are finding the scoresheet for Cincinnati. In fact, eight Cyclones skaters have enjoyed a multi-point game. Joe Basaraba, who is currently in the AHL with San Antonio, leads the team in this category with three such contests.
