Cyclones Add Pair of Defensemen

Cincinnati, OH - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have agreed to terms with defensemen Michael Quinn and Dylan King for the 2014-15 season.

Quinn, a Surrey, British Columbia native, is coming off of an impressive career at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. Over four seasons, the six-foot, 185-pound defenseman collected 58 points (9g, 49a) in 129 games – including a career-high 24 points (2g, 22a) during his senior campaign of 2013-14. Prior to playing in the NCAA, he spent four seasons in the BCHL with the Surrey Eagles and Westside Warriors.

“Michael is solid puck carrying defenseman,” said Cyclones Head Coach Matt Macdonald. “We’re excited to have him continue his success from college into the pro game.”

King, a fourth-year-pro, comes to the Queen City after splitting time between San Francisco and South Carolina. Collectively, he amassed 14 points (3g, 11a) in 68 games along with an assist in four Kelly Cup Playoff contests. Since joining the pro ranks in 2010, the Thessalon, Ontario native has seen action in the AHL, ECHL, and CHL – totaling 34 points (9g, 25a) and 228 penalty minutes in 193 career games. In 2011-12, King was a member of the CHL All-Star Team and All-Rookie Team as a member of the Allen Americans.

“Dylan is a steady presence on the blue line,” said Macdonald. “He’s been a great contributor everywhere he has been during his career and we look forward to a great season from him.”

The countdown to the 2014-15 First Face-Off is underway! The Cyclones will return for another season of hockey at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday, October 25 when they play host to the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30pm.
