Gladiators Even Series with 3-0 Win in Game 2
DULUTH, Georgia – The Gwinnett Gladiators (5-1 playoffs) benefited from two power play goals and got a shutout performance from Louis Domingue as they defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones (5-3 playoffs) by a 3-0 final score in front of 3,057 at Gwinnett Center on Sunday night.
The Gladiators broke the scoreless tie at 17:58 of the opening period when Justin Bowers forced a loose puck past Michael Houser (L, 34 saves, 5-3 playoffs) during a power play to give his team a 1-0 lead. Gwinnett carried the slim edge into the first intermission.
Both teams had some great scoring chances in the middle period, however, neither could light the lamp as Louis Domingue (W, 22 saves, 4-1 playoffs) remained perfect through 40 minutes and kept his team ahead by one.
Gwinnett added to its cushion midway through the final frame as Domenic Monardo redirected home his second goal of the series at 12:38, making it 2-0. Cincinnati attempted to rally back with a late power play and an extra skater, but it was not to be; Domingue finished his night with a total of 22 saves and Ryan Donald hit the empty net with 40 seconds remaining to seal a 3-0 win for the Gladiators.
