Mathieu Aubin Named ECHL Player of the Week
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that team captain Mathieu Aubin has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for March 4-10.
Aubin scored two goals, added four assists and was a +4 in three games last week as the Cyclones extended their unbeaten streak to 10 games (9-0-1).
The 26-year-old opened the week with two points (1g-1a) in a 5-4 overtime loss to Florida on Wednesday, tallied the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win against Toledo on Friday and ended the week with three assists in a 5-2 victory over Evansville on Saturday.
A native of Sorel, Quebec, Aubin leads the Cyclones with 50 points (14g-36a) and a +18 rating in 60 games. He also has appeared in two games with Houston of the American Hockey League.
Aubin has 302 points (121g-181a) in 336 career ECHL games with Cincinnati and Bakersfield, and was the 2011-12 ECHL Plus Performer of the Year after leading the league with a +25 rating. He has added 39 points (17g-22a) in 60 Kelly Cup Playoff games, and was part of Cincinnati’s championship clubs in 2008 and 2010.
On behalf of Mathieu Aubin, a case of pucks will be donated to a Cincinnati youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 27,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
Cincinnati will embark on a six-game road trip beginning this Friday night in Trenton at 7:05pm. Fans can hear all the action of the game on the Cyclones Radio Network (America One, CyclonesHockey.com) beginning at 6:45pm.
