THIS PAST WEEK:
About Sunday Night in Evansville: Cyclones forward Mike Embach posted a career high five-point night as the Cyclones demolished the IceMen by a 9-4 final score in front of 5,492 at Ford Center. It was the first time since January 14, 2009 that a Cincinnati team had scored nine goals in a single game and the first time since February of 2010 that Cincinnati has won seven straight games.
About Saturday Night vs. Kalamazoo: The Cyclones extended their current winning streak to six games, a season high, as they defeated the Wings by a final score of 4-1 in front of 7,241 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night. Cincinnati has won 11 of its past 12 games and remains in a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference standings.
About Friday Night in Kalamazoo: The Cyclones enjoyed another night of superb defense as they defeated the Wings by a 3-2 final score in front of 2,863 at Wings Stadium. Dan Eves collected his third game-winning goal of the year as the Cyclones pulled into a tie for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
About Tuesday Night vs. Trenton: The Cyclones moved into a tie for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 7-4 win over the Titans in front of 2,036 at U.S. Bank Arena. Six Cyclones players registered multi-point games in the victory, including Josh Shalla who earned his first career hat trick.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
Approaching "Magic": After rolling to another perfect week and seven straight wins, the Cyclones play three home games over four nights starting Wednesday at U.S. Bank Arena. The Florida Everblades come to town for the final Wet Wednesday of the season before the Cyclones welcome Toledo and Evansville to 100 Broadway on Friday and Saturday night respectively.
Embach's Career Night: On Sunday, Mike Embach enjoyed a career high five-point night as he scored four goals and added an assist in a 9-4 rout of Evansville. It was the first time since 12/1/07 and just the third time in club history that a Cyclone recorded a hat trick in a single period. Thomas Beauregard did it in the 3rd period that night. Mike Wirll accomplished the feat on April 3rd, 2007 in the 1st period.
Nine Times? Yes, Nine Times: The Cyclones nine-goal outburst on Sunday in Evansville was the first time they've eclipsed that many goals in the single game since January 14, 2009 vs. Wheeling when they enjoyed a ten-goal contest (they won 10-4 that night).
Third Period Beauties: Cincinnati has continued to be one of the top third period teams in the ECHL this season. They have outscored their opponents 77-53 in the final frame...their offense ranks second best among all 23 teams.
At Home on the Road: The Clones have climbed to the top of the ECHL charts in road winning percentage. They have collected a 19-7-3 1 record away from U.S. Bank Arena this season, good for a 70% winning percentage.
Coors Light Jarrod Skalde Show TONIGHT: Join us from 7-8pm at the Tap House Grill for another week of hockey conversation with Cyclones Head Coach Jarrod Skalde and Voice of the Cyclones Nick Brunker.
