CINCINNATI, Ohio – Dan Eves’ second goal of the night broke a 2-2 tied in the third period as the Cincinnati Cyclones (24-18-1-7) held on to defeat the Gwinnett Gladiators (29-14-7-4) by a 3-2 final score in front of 2,016 at U.S. Bank Arena on Monday afternoon.

Cincinnati raced out to an early 1-0-lead as Mike Pelech buried a rebound past Gladiators goalie Joe Palmer (L, 28 saves, 10-8-1-2) for a power play goal at 7:47. Then, at 17:19, Dan Eves cannoned in a one-timer to extend the Cincinnati cushion to 2-0 at the first intermission.

Gwinnett cut the Cyclones lead in half at 10:38 of the middle stanza when David Brownschidle batted a loose puck behind Cincinnati net minder Brian Foster (W, 31 saves, 10-3-0-1), making it 2-1 after 40 minutes.

The Gladiators found the equalizer at 1:47 of the third period as Jonathan Parker’s wrist shot from the right circle snuck through Foster’s legs and trickled in, knotting things at 2-2. However, after a frantic scramble in front of the Gwinnett goal, Eves found a loose puck and poked in his second lamp lighter of the night at 7:09, pushing Cincinnati ahead 3-2. And thanks to 14 third period saves from Foster, the Cyclones held on to win by the same score.
