Cyclones Partner with Pink Ribbon Girls for Inaugural Power Play 5K Run/Walk
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that they have named Pink Ribbon Girls as the beneficiary for the Inaugural Cyclones Power Play 5K Run/Walk presented by Powerade on Saturday, October 8.
Pink Ribbon Girls was founded when Tracie Metzger and Dawn Harvey realized there was no specific group for young women dealing with breast cancer. Through this non-profit organization, young women are offered education and awareness for early detection, support, and an outlet to express fears. The topics of discussion at group meetings include, dating, caring for young children while undergoing treatment, fitness and nutrition. Pink Ribbon Girls has a national, searchable database, providing a way for them to connect with other young women with similar demographics and life circumstances.
“When the Cyclones came to me with the idea of partnering for their race during October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I was very excited,” said Pink Ribbon Girls Co-Founder and Executive Director Tracie Metzger. “What a great opportunity for them to be able to impact the lives of young women battling breast cancer and raise awareness for my organization.”
“Pink Ribbon Girls is such an amazing organization right here in Cincinnati,” said Cyclones General Manager Kristin Ropp. “We find it very rewarding to associate with such a wonderful group of women. I can’t think of a better organization to benefit.”
