Benn Olson Loaned to Milwaukee, Hunter Returns to Cincinnati
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that defenseman Benn Olson has been loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. In a separate transaction, the Admirals have reassigned forward Dylan Hunter to Cincinnati.
Olson, a third-year pro, will be on an AHL roster for the third consecutive season. In 45-career games at the Triple A level, the Port McNeil, British Columbia native has posted four assists and 161 penalty minutes. In 38 games with the Cyclones this season, Olson has been involved in an ECHL-high 17 fights while posting a league fourth-most 143 penalty minutes. On January 28, he scored his first professional goal against South Carolina.
Prior to going pro, he spent four seasons playing in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kamloops Blazers. In 244 games as an amateur, Olson racked up 746 penalty minutes while earning 29 points (3 goals, 26 assists). He will be on the ice tonight at the Bradley Center when the Milwaukee Admirals play host to the Peoria Rivermen at 8:00pm ET.
Hunter, a ninth-round Buffalo Sabres draft choice in 2004, returns to Cincinnati after spending the last six weeks with the Milwaukee Admirals. This season in the AHL, Hunter has notched a goal and an assist in 16 games. He has also played in 22 games with the Cyclones this year, collecting 21 points (7 goals, 21 assists) and 37 penalty minutes in that span. He ranks third on the Cyclones with five multi-point games.
