CYCLONES ESCAPE WINTER WEATHER FOR MEETING WITH FLORIDA EVERBLADES.
For the first time since the 2008-09 season, the Cyclones will travel to the sunshine state where they will meet the Florida Everblades in a three-game series beginning Wednesday night.
THIS PAST WEEK:
About Saturday in Toledo: The Walleye scored three goals in both the first and second period on their way to a 6-2 victory over the Cyclones at Huntington Center on Saturday night. With the win, Toledo has evened the season series between the two rivals at four and now sits just two points behind Cincinnati and Kalamazoo in the North Division standings.
About Tuesday vs. Toledo: Second-year netminder Thomas McCollum turned aside 18 shots to help his Walleye earn a 2-0 win over the Cyclones in front of 6,224 at U.S. Bank Arena on Tuesday night. It was the third largest crowd of the season for Cincinnati.
STORYLINES:
Starting Strong: Cincinnati has found the majority of its offense in the opening period of games this season, scoring a combined 33 goals. They have scored the game’s first goal 15 times in 2010-11.
Full Strength Fury: The Cyclones have had their best success offensively during five-on-five play. Through 32 games this season, they are outscoring their opponents 56-48 in such situations.
Nothing runs like a “Chevy”: With Chet Pickard back in Milwaukee, Cyclones goalie Marc Cheverie will continue to tend the pipes for Cincinnati. This week he will add more minutes to his rapidly-growing total. He has 1289 minutes in net, consistently ranking in the top 10 in that department this season. Meanwhile, his 601 saves rank him fifth in the ECHL and his 3 shutouts pace the entire league.
