Pierce, Del Monte Return to Cincinnati
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The 2010 Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that forwards Matt Pierce and Ryan Del Monte have been returned to Cincinnati after being released from their professional try out agreement with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. To make room on the roster, the Cyclones have released Brent Clarke and Matt Smyth.
Pierce, a second-year pro, made his 2010-11 AHL debut with the Americans after being called up on November 20 and went on to appear in eight games registering six shots on goal. Before being summoned by Rochester, the Arnprior, Ontario native had accumulated 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) for Cincinnati.
Del Monte returns to the Cyclones after spending most of the season with Rochester. In 21 games for the Americans, Del Monte recorded six points (3 goals, 3 assists) including a game-winning tally on November 6. Before getting the call up on October 17, Del Monte played for the Cyclones in both opening-weekend games against Elmira and collected one assist. In 48 career games with Cincinnati, Del Monte has posted 27 points (9 goals, 18 assists).
The defending Kelly Cup Champions return to the ice at U.S. Bank Arena tomorrow night when they’ll face-off against the Reading Royals at 7:30pm.
