TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:
Beginning tonight, the first-place Cyclones will play four games in the span of five nights against three different teams. First up, Cincinnati battles the Reading Royals in the opener of a two game-set. Last year, the Cyclones went 2-1-0 against Reading with one of those victories coming at the Sovereign Center.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS:
Reading comes in tonight’s action ranked 2nd in the Atlantic Division with a 9-6-0 record. They’re playing some of the best hockey of the season during their last 10 games, posting an 8-2-0 mark. Although they’re just 3-3 at Sovereign Center, they’ve earned a “W” in three of their last four home games. Matt Caruana leads the Royals in scoring, amassing 12 goals and 7 assists while Ben Gordon ranks second with 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists).
COMING ALIVE WHEN 5-ON-5: Through 16 games this season, the Cyclones have outscored their opponents 30-19 when skating 5-on-5.
THE POSITIVE SIDE OF LIFE: Cyclones captain Barret Ehgoetz has registered a point in 13 of his 16 games this season. He has now registered a plus/minus rating of +1 or better in each of his last eight games.
